Dexter

Adopted September 2007
Dexter (formerly known as "Vic")
The Lakeland Terrier "Vic" was adopted in September 2007 and immediately changed his name by deed poll to "Dexter"!
From a shy timid and unsure beginning Dexter has grown into his new role with some relish and is now a confident and loving member of the household.
He thrives on being loved and giving affection back to the four people he shares his house with, although he loves his four walks every day.
For anyone out there contemplating adopting a dog from the RSPCA or any other Rescue Centre – do it, you will not regret it.
Ruby D2010159

Adopted 24th July 2010
Hi I thought I would send you an update on Ruby (Neapolitan Mastiff Cross) who we adopted in July 2010.
I had seen Ruby on another RSPCA website and thought she was beautiful and always checked to see if she had been re-homed, I was working in Chesterfield at the time when suddenly she was moved to your branch, as far as I was concerned it was fate and I immediately arranged to come down and see her.
A lovely gentleman took her out into the pen for me to greet her, I sat facing slightly away from her not making eye contact, she came straight up to me sniffed all round my head then flopped to the floor for a belly rub, not a growl or bark in sight, as far as I was concerned that day she decided I was going to be her new mum!
Ruby is just the most delightful dog ever, I can not tell you how much love and joy she has brought to both me and my partner. She has her funny quirky ways (like barking at exactly the same time every night to go up to bed! I don't know how she knows but she really does.) She is so loving I can not tell you, unbelievably loyal and just wants to be with you at all times, she is also big sister to my two cats who absolutely dote on her especially our baby kitten Reggie (the size difference is vast but they are so cute together.) She is a million times better with her nerves now and accepts strangers into our house a lot quicker, if we are ok then she is ok! Much more relaxed!
She is great around any visiting children (we monitor this very closely) and although she is very clumsy and of course we would never leave her alone with any child she has given us no cause for concern what so ever!
I know she came into the branch with her brother Marlon and I hope he is doing well too, she has a new best friend (my friend's dog) Marley who she adores but I am sure she remembers Marlon because if we ever see any Bull Mastiffs out and about she goes crazy with excitement more so than usual!
Anyway just a little update for you, I just wanted to re-assure you that Ruby is loved and adored and has her own double bed and bedroom and we are so very lucky to have her and eternally grateful that we were able to bring her home!
Kind Regards Claire, Stephen and Ruby
Stan & Ester

Adopted August 2010
Hi everyone
I thought I would give u an update on 2 puppies that me, my Mum and Auntie adopted in late August 2010. Stan and Ester have become two fantastic dogs. Stan is the quite one and Ester is into everything. I don't think I've meet two dogs that can eat their dinner as fast as these two. Stan loves his daily trips in the car to pick Dad up from work as this means he can sleep on the back seat. Even though they are both getting quite big now they both love trying to sit on your knee. Seeing all four of our dogs curled up on the big dog pillow is just amazing and I would like to thank you all for helping us in picking two fantastic dogs (mind you I think they picked us)
Keep up the good work
lots of love from Jane and Emily Furniss, Caroline Laughton, Stan, Ester, Pip and Ben xxxxxx
Luna D2010277

Adopted 15th January 2011
Hi guys
We just wanted to let you know that Jet (now called Luna) is settling in so well. Luna gets fussed by the whole family and is walked four times a day come rain or shine (as a result we're all getting fit). She loves running in the park and is good on the lead. She isn't too keen on being left on her own (but if she is left it's not for more that a couple of hours). We have found out that the best way for us to get a full nights sleep is to have Luna to sleep in her bed in our bedroom and she sleeps right through with no problems at all. She loves going out in the car and playing with bubbles in the garden.
We love her to bits and are so glad we could adopt her after all the time she spent in kennels (two years) it really is wonderful to see her having so much fun and when she runs she is so fast. Please can you let everyone at Accrington know that Luna is now a much loved member of our family. Keep up the great work that you all do, as you really do make such a difference to the lives of so many wonderful animals.
Best wishes and god bless
Dave, Janice and the girls. x
Mary M2010274

Adopted 21st November 2010
Mary, who we adopted in November 2010 is now named Babe. She quickly settled in and got friendly with our other rabbit Toby who was in need of a friend after his other one sadly passed away. They both get along fine and she has turned into a healthy, happy bunny. All the family love her and she is a funny hyperactive little character .She treats our other rabbit as her child as she is always washing him and takes care of him. Thanks.
