Three charities have equally shared £2,463.98 from the East Midlands Chamber Charitable Fund.
Chamber President Geoff Poyzer presented a giant cheque to Ashgate Hospice, Chesterfield, RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire and Rainbow’s Hospice, Loughborough, at Leicestershire’s Christmas Lunch earlier this month (Dec 2016).
The three charities, which each received £821.33, were chosen as the first to benefit from the East Midlands Chamber Charitable Fund, administered by the Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation.
Making the presentation at the 2016 Leicester Christmas Lunch, Geoff announced that the beneficiaries of this year’s charitable activities, who will receive their donations at the 2017 Leicester Christmas Lunch, will be LOROS, Maggie’s Nottingham and Blythe House Hospice.
Over £2,600 was raised for the charities at this year’s Leicester Christmas Lunch. Events undertaken by Chamber staff over the coming year and Gift Aid will boost the eventual amount donated at next year’s Christmas Lunch.
Geoff said: “It gave me great pleasure to present three very worthwhile charities with much-needed donations and also to name three more charities to which the Chamber will donate next year.
“Charities rely on donations for their survival and whether it is a large or small amount I would encourage businesses to take part in events that help to raise money for charities during the year.”
