The Chesterfield RSPCA charity shop

The opening of our charity shop for the Chesterfield and North Derbyshire RSPCA in April 2006 was a very exciting venture for us all. It is located at unit 12, Market Hall, Chesterfield, straight across from the main Post Office.

The decision was taken on the back of the success of the small charity shop inside the Market Hall, next to the café, (this shop still remains open along side our new shop.) In just over a year this shop has made a whopping £15,000 profit and has been run entirely by a devoted team of volunteers. What was not sold in the shop was sold at the yard sales at the animal centre every last Sunday of the month. This has generated over £1,200 since Christmas.

It is vital that the branch raises 2.5 million pounds to update the animal accommodation to comply with new animal welfare legislation. Having a new charity shop will help to raise much-needed funds. Every penny of the profits will go straight to the centre on Spital Lane.

Of course this will depend on the donations we receive, but over the years we have always been amazed by the generosity of the public and their kind donations. We are sure that this generosity will continue and the target to build new animal accommodation will be met.

The shop sells good quality clothing, accessories, bric a brac and almost anything else you can think of. So if you have any unwanted items that you wish to donate, you can drop them off at the animal centre or the new charity shop where your items will be gratefully received. Please do not hesitate to ring the shop on 01246 270293 or the animal centre if you have any questions. If you have a few hours to spare and would like to volunteer in the shop, again please ring the shop and ask for Rachel Troth and we will welcome you and train you to work on the till or in the sort room.
