Ferret adoption prices

Neutered male or female ferret £30.00* £35.00**

Pair of neutered male or female ferrets

£50.00* additional services apply if requested

We prefer our ferrets to be re-homed in pairs and offer a reduced price of £50.00 per pair.

*Standard adoption fee

**This price includes the cost of having your rescue ferret vaccinated against distemper. This is an additional service which costs £5.00 on top of the standard adoption fee.

We aim to neuter all ferrets over 6 months of age. If this is not done by the time of adoption, or the ferret is too young, we issue a voucher to cover the total cost of neutering which must be used at Peak Veterinary Limited, Matlock. Tel: 01629 582844.

We also offer a service to have your rescue ferret microchipped. If your ferret is lost or stolen and is taken in by any animal rescue centre or vet, then your ferret will be scanned and returned to you in a very short space of time. This service costs £15.00 on top of the standard adoption fee.

These costs do not take into account the feeding, loving care and attention the ferrets have had during their stay at the animal centre.

Are you aware that ferrets can easily become bored and need regular handling, toys for stimulation and a good and balanced diet to live a healthy and happy life? (The centre ferrets are fed on James wellbeloved)

Conditions of adoption

  • We are looking for life-long, permanent homes for our animals and we need to be sure you can provide such a home. This means we have to ask questions about your personal circumstances, including your ability to meet routine and emergency Vet bills, which will become solely your responsibility following adoption.

  • Ideally all members of the household must come to the animal centre before a ferret can be reserved for you. If this is not possible we at least ask for the primary carer of the ferret to visit the centre with permission from the property owner where the ferret will live. We will normally "hold" the ferret of your choice for 48 hours, this will allow everyone to come along and agree to the new addition.

  • A home checker will need to visit you at home before you can adopt any ferret.

  • We recommend that ferrets are kept as indoor pets or in ferret courts and modified out buildings. However as a minimum requirement we do not adopt ferrets out into hutches less than 4 foot in length.

  • We only adopt ferrets as family pets and not for breeding or working purposes.

  • We advise that entire female ferrets are brought out of season or they can become terminally ill.

  • We do encourage that ferrets are kept in pairs or in groups

  • We may arrange to do a post adoption visit to see how your new ferret is settling in.
