Rabbit adoption prices

Neutered male or female rabbit	£30.00
Pair of neutered male or female rabbits	£50.00

We prefer our rabbits to be re-homed in pairs and offer a reduced price of £50.00 per pair. The additional services below still apply if requested

All rabbits will be issued with a neutering voucher at the time of adoption. This voucher will cover the total cost of neutering which must be used at Peak Veterinary Limited, Matlock. Tel: 01629 582844. Please click here to view our conditions of adoption.

In 2009 the RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Branch sucessfully re-homed 79 rabbits into new and loving homes.

Thank you to everyone who gave one of our rabbits a new home and a second chance in life. We would also like to thank all our supporters for their kindness and generosity, without your support our work would not be possible.

We also offer a service to have your rescue rabbit vaccinated against myxomatosis. This vaccination is classed as an additional service and costs £10.00 on top of the adoption fee. Please note the myxomatosis vaccination is not fully effective until 2 weeks after the vaccination date.

We also offer a service to have your rescue rabbit microchipped. If your rabbit is lost or stolen and is taken in by any animal rescue centre or vet, then your rabbit will be scanned and returned to you in a very short space of time. This service costs £15.00 on top of the standard adoption fee.

These costs do not take into account the feeding, loving care and attention the rabbits have had during their stay at the animal centre.

Are you aware that rabbits can easily become bored and need regular handling, grooming, toys for stimulation, a good and balanced diet including a constant supply of hay to live a healthy and happy life?

Conditions of adoption

We are looking for life-long, permanent homes for our animals and we need to be sure you can provide such a home. This means we have to ask questions about your personal circumstances, including your ability to meet routine and emergency Vet bills, which will become solely your responsibility following adoption.
Ideally all members of the household must come to the animal centre before a rabbit can be reserved for you. If this is not possible we at least ask for the primary carer of the rabbit to visit the centre. We also require permission from the property owner where the rabbit will live. We will normally "hold" the rabbit of your choice for 48 hours, this will allow everyone to come along and agree to the new addition.
A home checker will need to visit you at home before you can adopt any rabbit.
As a minimum requirement we do not adopt rabbits out into hutches less than 4 foot in length and 5 foot if kept in pairs. You will also need a suitable exercise run or area for your rescue rabbit. We also encourage rabbits to be kept in the house. Please note that these lengths may need to be bigger depending on the size and breed of rabbit.
We do not adopt rabbits out for breeding purposes.

We may arrange to do a post adoption visit to see how your new rabbit is settling in

Veterinary fees become the sole responsibility of the adopter once the rabbit has left the re-homing centre
