RSPCA Week 2010 – Sponsored Walk

Daniel Bradshaw got involved with the Animal Centre when he attended a Taster Event at the beginning of 2010. Daniel is a now a regular volunteer  at the centre but decided to go the extra mile, quite literally! Daniel arranged his own sponsored walk around Carsington Water and roped in his friend Kerry Wheldan for good measure. Supplied with sponsor forms from the Animal Centre they received support from friends, family and work collegues. Their efforts raised £449 in total.

In addition to this Daniel has helped out at the successful RPSCA week collection at Tesco recently.

Sponsored Abseil Millers Dale – Saturday 15th May 2010

A beautiful late spring morning saw members of staff, volunteers and supporters meet up in Millers Dale for our Sponsored Abseil event organised by Evolution Outdoors.  In all 9 brave people took part in the actual abseil and were cheered on by even more supporters. Not only did everyone complete the abseil but many then did a tandem abseil as their second descent – which was a unique experience for everyone. In total £962.08 was raised and lots of fun was had. A big thank you to the following abseil participants:
Shirley Eccles, Becca Sutcliffe, Alison Griffiths, Bec Taylor, Jonathan Dean, Ariane Dean, Joseph Darling, Patrick Darling and Christina Harris. Another big thank you to all the people who sponsored them to take part in the event and who supported them on the day.

Sponsored Walk – Sunday 16th May 2010

Two of our dedicated Animal Care Assistants have a real flair for fundraising. Jane Strauther and Rebecca Kennel have come up with various ideas over the years to raise extra funds for the Animal Centre where they both work at. Car boot sales, tombolas, Christmas bauble appeals to name but a few. Last month they decided to dress up as super heroes and do a sponsored walk along the Chesterfield Canal. They completed the 8 mile walk, from Staveley Hall to Tapton and back again and took our longest serving canine resident – Flash – with them for the exercise. They all had a great time and Flash was still going strong at the end of the walk. So far the Super heroes and Flash have raised over £290 with more donations coming in. A big thank you to Jane and Rebecca and to everyone who supported them including the Chesterfield Canal Trust who organised the walk.
